The perfect Goodr sunglasses for every occasion :)
As someone who thoroughly enjoys getting out and exercising in the sunshine and topping up on some vitamin D (even if that is very rarely in Northern Ireland), I have recently become a huge fan of GOODR sports glasses. In this post I'll explain why I think GOODR are definitely a contender for the best sports sunnies and why I'll likely never wear an alternative brand!
GOODR were introduced in 2015 and have steadily been on the rise ever since. What first attracted me to them were the vast array of colour options available to choose from. They were so stylish, funky and completely left-field from every other pair of sports glasses I had seen previously.. so much so that I questioned if they were even designed for sports at all! I purchased myself a pair of 'Donkey Goggles' (Yes, that is the model name) and was very pleasantly surprised by how effective they were!
So what impressed me about this brand?
Each time I went out for a run I was suspicious that the glasses would potentially slip or fall off if I moved my head. To my surprise, they didn't move at all. It was as if they were neatly stuck to my face! And so, from a non-slip/ no bounce point of view, I was very pleasantly surprised.
After a while I even forgot I was wearing the glasses as they were so exceptionally lightweight. I'm sure a lot of sports glasses make the mistake of putting too much technology into making the glasses exceptionally high-tec or cutting edge. With GOODR it was simple and effective. Compact enough to slip into your pocket post run or walk too.
I noticed instantly that they were 100% polarized and non glare too, so as you can imagine I had no issue what so ever with that low winter sun directly in front of me.
After having my pair for a while I became increasingly intrigued with what other models GOODR had to offer. To be honest, it was overwhelming just how many styles and colours that were available, but that's one of my favourite aspects of the brand. They have every style under the sun (pun intended), from the slick and low-key 'Mick and Keith's Midnight Ramble' to the futuristic 'Neon Flux Capacitor', I had to restrain myself from wanting to start a vast collection.
After a while I found myself not just wearing my 'Donkey Goggles' for running but also while cycling too and from work, while walking the dog and even on holiday, replacing my standard pair of holiday glasses. The versatility of the brand is great, and so, even if you are not into running, these glasses are great for every occasion, from mountain hiking, chilling in the garden on a warm summers day, walking the dog, and everything in between.
After continuing to research the brand, I've since discovered they are a 100% carbon free company with a very green, eco-friendly approach to all their products. And with the majority of their glasses sitting around the £30 mark, it's hard to justify going with any other brand which will undoubtedly be much more expensive and potentially over-engineered, depending on what you require them for of course.
After a couple of years It felt right to share this uber cool, funky brand with as many people as possible, and so in October 2023, I took over the GOODR stand at the Dublin Marathon Expo, donning a very flamboyant Hawaiian shirt, which GOODR had supplied me with (I loved it).
If you'd like to try out GOODR for yourself or quite simply see what all the fuss is about, we've got them in stock here at Pure Running. You might even be welcomed by me and my donkey goggles, who knows!
